Mark Fast

Monochrome rules his collection this season, underscoring tight silhouettes that play tribute to the female form. Using "elastomeric yarn," Fast firms up the reminiscent fashions of the Middleages,capturing a modern aesthetic that fuses "beauty and severity." Cutout knit-webs, whimsical drapery and exposed shoulders adorn taut red, mustard, grey and white looks. Sprinkling some controversy on his show, Fast added a dash of plus-size to the models serving his looks on the runway - see their killer poise here.

In an attempt to soothe some serious nostalgia, I exhumed some early January pictures from Tokyo. I miss the tepid winter weather, odd-flavored sweets, the sizable-yet-polite throng that incessantly crowds Takeshita dori, affordable rotating raw fish, automatic cab doors, crooning lyrics in small spaces with a ceaseless flow of sticky liquor, bowing, three-dollar "nutty" menthol camels, hot vending machine beverages, even the big-beaked crows...

Oh, and smoking inside of course.
